Customize Audio Overviews: Brief, Critique or Debate instead of the default
Google's notebook tool (formerly NotebookLM) can turn your sources into a 2-minute brief, a critique of your draft, or a debate, plus a custom focus prompt.
Most people only try the default two-host “Deep Dive.” The Studio panel offers more:
- The Brief: one speaker, key takeaways in under two minutes.
- The Critique: two hosts give constructive feedback on an essay or design doc. Great for your own drafts.
- The Debate: a formal back-and-forth on the topic.
Also worth knowing
- Add a custom prompt to focus on specific topics or set the expertise level (“explain for a new hire”).
- Choose Shorter/Default/Longer length (English) and 80+ output languages.
- Interactive mode (English) lets you press Join and ask the hosts questions mid-episode.
- Use “View custom prompt” later to reuse what worked.
