Run 3-5 coding agents in parallel with git worktrees
The Claude Code team's biggest productivity unlock: several sessions at once, each in its own git worktree so edits never collide.
A git worktree is a second (third, fourth…) checkout of the same repo in a different folder, each on its own branch. Claude Code supports them natively.
Why
Agents spend a lot of time running tests and thinking. Running 3-5 sessions in parallel, one per worktree, lets you review one while others work, and their file edits can’t trample each other.
How
- Give each session one well-scoped task (a bug, a migration, a test suite).
- Keep tasks independent so the branches merge cleanly.
- Review and merge each branch like a teammate’s pull request.
Pairs well with the verification tip: parallel agents only pay off if each one can check its own work.
